Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely prescribed for the treatment of arthritis and other painful conditions. If you take an NSAID you may experience indigestion, which is a common unwanted effect; this does not necessarily mean that you will develop an ulcer, although it is more likely if you are over 60 or have had an ulcer previously. NSAID-induced ulcers can develop and even bleed or perforate without causing pain or any other warning symptom.
